Pineapple teriyaki sauce

    A quick and easy homemade teriyaki sauce with the addition of fresh pineapple. Use on stir-fries or as a marinade for chicken breasts, steaks or vegetable skewers.

    Serves: 10 

    • 120ml light soy sauce
    • 4 tablespoons sake
    • 40g fresh pineapple, finely chopped
    • 4 tablespoons honey
    • 50g granulated sugar
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
    • 1/4 teaspoon fish sauce (optional)

    1. Combine soy sauce, sake, pineapple, honey, sugar, garlic, ginger and fish sauce in a saucepan over medium heat; cook and stir until just boiling, about 7 minutes. Remove from heat, cool and store in fridge. This sauce will keep in a sealed jar for up to 2 weeks.

    After preparing the marinade, I thought it tasted pretty sweet, but I have to say that it did a fantastic job of marinating a London Broil. It was just sweet enough, and the soy sauce didn’t overpower the flavor as many teriyaki sauces do.
