Apples are cored and filled with oats, brown sugar and cinnamon for a very easy autumn dessert.
The baking tray needs to be rimmed to avoid butter spilling onto oven floor.
Tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked at 30 minutes. The house smelled wonderful while these apples were in the oven. This one takes me back to my childhood when baked apples were typically the first thing my mother cooked to welcome the Fall season. I scaled this down to two servings, but I must have had small apples because there was enough filling left over to cook two additional. Served with a drizzle of maple syrup and thoroughly enjoyed. - 09 Oct 2015 (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
Not the best recipe. The oatmeal was clumpy and dry after baking. I would have preferred the filling to be more saucy and moist. I used Fiji apples and they were not cooked all the way after 30 min. I will try wrapping them in foil next time to keep the oatmeal moist and cook the apple better. - 10 Feb 2019 (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
These apples were awesome. I just had to bake them longer and I used pumpkin pie seasoning instead. - 25 Nov 2018 (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
