Preheat the oven to 190 C / Gas 5. Lightly grease 2 baking trays.
Beat together the butter and sugar until light and creamy.
Gradually add the beaten egg to the mix. Sift the flour into the mix and blend well. Stir in the chocolate and almonds.
Place dollops of the mix onto the trays, about as long as one finger and leaving sufficient space between them to spread. Bake in the preheated oven until the cookies have a slight golden edge and are pale-ish in the centre, about 12 minutes.
