Deep-fried Camembert with cranberry sauce

    Camembert cheese is breaded and deep fried and served alongside cranberry sauce in this quick and easy Christmas party dish.

    Serves: 12 

    • 2 rounds Camembert cheese
    • vegetable oil for frying
    • 125g plain flour
    • 2 eggs
    • 4 tablespoons milk
    • 100g breadcrumbs
    • 450g whole berry cranberry sauce

    1. Freeze Camembert cheese for 30 minutes.
    2. Heat oil in a deep-fat fryer or large saucepan to 190 degrees C.
    3. Pour flour into a bowl. Beat eggs and milk together in a separate bowl. Pour breadcrumbs into a third bowl.
    4. Remove cheese from the freezer and cut each round into 6 wedges. Roll each wedge in flour and dip into the egg-milk mixture. Press each wedge into breadcrumbs until evenly coated.
    5. Fry each breaded wedge in the hot oil until breadcrumbs are browned, 2 to 3 minutes per side. Transfer fried cheese to a kitchen paper-lined plate using a slotted spoon. Serve cranberry sauce on the side.
