Nutella® French toast

    My daughter loves this Nutella-stuffed French toast. You could add some sliced bananas or strawberries to the sandwich if you'd like. We use raisin loaf with cinnamon but it works with any bread. Great for special occasions!

    Serves: 2 

    • 2 tablespoons chocolate-hazelnut spread (such as Nutella(R)), or more to taste
    • 4 slices raisin loaf with cinnamon
    • 4 tablespoons milk
    • 1 large egg, beaten
    • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

    1. Spread 1 tablespoon chocolate-hazelnut spread onto one side of each of 2 slices raisin-cinnamon bread; top each with another bread slice to make 2 sandwiches.
    2. Beat milk, egg and vanilla extract together in a shallow bowl until smooth. Soak each sandwich in the milk mixture until the bread is moistened, about 15 seconds per side.
    3. Lightly grease a nonstick pan and heat over medium-high heat.
    4. Cook sandwiches in the hot pan until browned on the bottom, about 2 minutes. Flip sandwiches and continue cooking until other side is browned, about 1 minute more.

    I regularly make this at the USO where I volunteer and put banana in. The young marines love it. One day we did not have sweet bread or eggs in so I did it like a grilled cheese sandwich with regular white bread. That went down great too.  -  06 Oct 2017  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
