Slow cooker turkey and pumpkin chilli

    I make this turkey chilli with pumpkin for our Halloween party every year. It's a great base with lots of options to spice it up depending on the crowd you're cooking for.

    Serves: 6 

    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 450g turkey mince
    • 1 onion, chopped
    • 2 (400g) tins chopped tomatoes
    • 150g cubed fresh pumpkin
    • 1 (400g) tin mixed beans in chilli sauce
    • 1 (400g) tin black beans
    • 3 tablespoons soft brown sugar
    • 1 tablespoon allspice
    • 1 tablespoon chilli powder

    1. Heat olive oil in a large soup pot over medium heat; brown turkey mince, stirring often, until browned, about 10 minutes.
    2. Transfer turkey to a slow cooker and stir in onions, chopped tomatoes, pumpkin, chilli beans, black beans, brown sugar, allspice and chilli powder. Set cooker to Low, cover and cook until pumpkin is tender and has started to break apart, at least 3 hours.
