Cream cheese balls

    Cream cheese is mixed with chives and rolled in crumbled German pumpernickel, which you can find in specialty stores and online.

    Makes: 40 cheese balls

    • 1 tub (280g) cream cheese, softened
    • 4 tablespoons minced chives
    • salt and pepper
    • 2 slices imported German pumpernickel bread, finely crumbled

    1. Mix cream cheese with chives, salt and pepper in a bowl. Cover with cling foil and chill for 1 hour.
    2. Take the cheese out of the fridge. Using a spoon take small lumps about the size of a walnut and shape into balls (this is best done with slightly moist hands). Place pumpernickel crumbs on a plate and roll the cheese balls in them till evenly covered. Chill until serving.
