This rich egg bread is easy to prepare in a bread machine, but the traditional plaited look is preserved when it is baked in the oven.
This bread can also be made in a greased 23x12cm (9x5 in) loaf tin.
I picked this recipe for its quantities - I don't have a bread machine but it came just the same (most likely!). I kept exactly to the recipe and it came out perfectly. Used different ingredients. so easy, but be sure not to over bake so it is not dry. I added about 200g of sultanas which I had covered with water and cooked in the microwave on high for five minutes, drained and let cool. I brushed the top prior to baking with honey (thin with a little water if it is difficult to spread) and sprinkle with poppy seeds. Enjoy! - 14 Jul 2008
