Baked tortilla strips for Mexican soups

    Baked tortilla strips are a staple in Mexican soups - use in your favourite tortilla soup or to garnish other Mexican soups or stews.

    • 8 (15cm) tortillas
    • 2 tablespoons avocado oil, or more as needed

    1. Preheat the oven to 180 C.
    2. Cut tortillas first in half, then crosswise into thin 2cm strips. Place in a bowl and toss with oil until fully coated. Arrange tortilla strips in a single layer on a baking tray.
    3. Bake in the preheated oven until strips are crisp and lightly browned, about 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool.
