One bowl brownies

    This is the best and easiest recipe for brownies, and there's less washing up!

    Serves: 12 

    • 125g (4¼ oz) plain chocolate
    • 175g (6 oz) butter
    • 400g (14 oz) caster sugar
    • 3 eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 125g (4¼ oz) plain flour
    • 125g (4¼ oz) chopped walnuts

    Prep:5min  ›  Cook:35min  ›  Ready in:40min 

    1. Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas mark 4.
    2. Microwave chocolate and butter in large bowl on HIGH for 2 minutes or until butter is melted.
    3. Stir until chocolate is melted. Stir in sugar. Mix in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour and nuts.
    4. Spread in greased 23x33cm (9x13 in) baking tin. Bake for 35 minutes (do not overbake).

    Used different ingredients. I used Cadburys Bournville cocoa powder instead of actual chocolate and added chunks of cadbury's dairy milk instead of walnuts and put some chunks of chocolate on top before baking. Very nice!  -  09 Feb 2010


    Altered ingredient amounts. My family & I agree that they are delicious. As another reviewer mentioned the instructions do say to foil & grease the tin, which I did and I had no problems with sticking. Will definitely make these again Edit: I made these again and cut the sugar down, while upping the vanilla to 2 tsp and they were much better.  -  21 Jul 2008


    Too delicious! I've eaten the lot! I used self-raising flour as had no plain in. Important to use the right size tin (mine flowed over but may have been partly flour's fault). Did not stick to tin - I greased it well. Super recipe!  -  04 Jul 2011
