Pizza dough by hand

    Simple, quick and tasty. Perfect for making multiple pizzas or one or two big ones.

    Makes: 2 large pizzas

    • 750g strong white bread flour
    • 2 (7g) sachets fast action yeast
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
    • 500ml warm water
    • 6 tablespoons olive oil

    1. Mix together the wet ingredients and dry ingredients separately.
    2. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients a little at a time to form a sticky-ish dough.
    3. Knead the dough until smooth and no longer sticky.
    4. Cover and prove for 1 hour.
    5. Break off fist-sized pieces and roll out quite thin. Alternatively, halve and roll out into two big pizzas.
    6. Cover with your favourite toppings. Bake in the preheated oven at 220 C / Gas 7 for 10 to 20 minutes for a small pizza, or 15 to 25 minutes for a big pizza.
