Creamy cheese and ham pasta bake

    This easy, creamy ham and cheese pasta bake doesn't take very long to prepare and is the perfect comfort meal for the whole family. It's also a great way to use up leftover ham and cream after Christmas day!

    Serves: 4 

    • 225g penne pasta
    • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
    • 200g cubed fully cooked ham
    • 250ml whipping cream
    • 250ml milk
    • 1 spreadable cheese wedge
    • 1 teaspoon vegetable stock granules
    • freshly ground black pepper to taste
    • 50g grated Parmesan cheese

    1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to the boil. Add penne pasta and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender yet firm to the bite, about 11 minutes; drain the pasta.
    2. Preheat oven to 220 C / Gas 7. Lightly grease a baking dish.
    3. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat; add ham and stir until slightly browned and crisp, about 5 minutes. Pour in cream and milk and heat until almost simmering. Add cheese wedge and melt in the sauce. Season with stock granules and black pepper. Add cooked pasta and mix well. Transfer to the prepared baking dish and cover with grated Parmesan cheese.
    4. Bake in the preheated oven until cheese is melted and the top is golden, about 20 minutes.
