I never add sugar to apple sauce. It does not keep as long as with apple sauce with sugar so use it within a few days.

Makes: 1 small jar
1kg cooking apples
4cm piece cinnamon stick
Method Prep:10min › Cook:15min › Ready in:25min
Peel and core apples. Cut into chunks.
Add to a heavy saucepan together with the cinnamon stick. Cover the pan (very important!) and heat very slowly over low heat till it simmers, stirring every so often. Continue to simmer till the apples are mushy and falling apart. Remove cinnamon stick.
