Put the butter and sugar in a saucepan over a low heat until the butter has melted and the sugar is dissolved but not burned. Add the cream or milk and heat until bubbling, stirring continually. Serve warm.
Thank you so much for this recipe, I've just made a salted caramel sauce and it was awful, followed the recipe to a T and it had a burnt taste of it, so I'm not one to be beaten and gave it another shot only using your recipe and it's perfect, I added a little salt at the end and it tastes amazing!
