If you like spices - you'll love this chocolate cake with a hint of cayenne chilli pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg. Serve slightly warm with vanilla ice cream.

60g butter, room temperature
350g caster sugar
120ml vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 tablespoons cocoa powder
pinch of salt
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
300g plain flour
1 teaspoon baking powder

Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 6. Grease a bundt or a ring-shaped cake tin.
Mix butter, sugar and oil together in a bowl with electric beaters until light and fluffy; add in eggs, one at a time, until well combined.
Mix in vanilla, cocoa, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon and cayenne pepper.
Mix flour and baking powder together; add flour alternately with milk, into wet mixture beating until smooth.
Transfer cake mixture into prepared tin; bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean. Cool in tin for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack.
