This easy Swiss cheese fondue is a great dish to serve to good company! Serve with cubes of toasted baguette.

1 clove garlic, halved
350ml dry white wine
1 tablespoon brandy, or to taste
500g Swiss cheese, grated
1 tablespoon cornflour
freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1 pinch of freshly ground nutmeg

Rub the inside of the fondue pot with the halves of garlic. Finely chop the remaining garlic clove and place in a saucepan. Add wine and cook over low heat, but without letting it boil. Stir in brandy.
Add grated cheese and cornflour; cook and stir gently over very low heat until the mixture is smooth and cheese has melted. Season with black pepper and nutmeg.
Transfer the mixture into the fondue pot with a burner underneath to keep it warm.
