This spicy macaroni pasta dish is packed with sausages, mushrooms, pesto and olives. The cream is optional.

500g macaroni pasta
750g sausages, cubed
2 large onions, chopped
4 celery stalks, sliced
5 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
2 large chilli peppers, finely diced
250g sliced mushrooms
1 (190g) jar classic green pesto
200g pitted or stuffed green olives, halved
1 small beef stock cube
250ml single cream (optional)

Cook the pasta in lightly salted boiling water until al dente, according to the instructions; drain.
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat; add sausages and cook until all the cubes have browned, about 5 minutes.
Stir in onions and celery; cook for 1 to 2 minutes. Add garlic, chilli and mushrooms and cook until mushrooms have browned. Add pesto, olives and crumble stock cube on top; stir well until warmed through.
Add pasta (and cream if using); toss everything together and serve.
