Galette des rois with puff pastry

    This recipe for galette des rois is very simple. But make sure not to forget the bean!

    Ingredients
    Serves: 6 

    • 2 ready rolled puff pastry
    • 50g butter, melted
    • 1 egg
    • 100g ground almonds
    • 75g caster sugar
    • 1 egg yolk for brushing

    Method
    Prep:20min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:50min 

    1. Preheat your oven to 200 C / Gas 6.
    2. In a bowl, combine the melted butter, egg, ground almonds and sugar.
    3. Unroll the puff pastry and cut out two circles to fit cake tin. Place one circle in the tin and spread the almond mixture on top. Bury the bean.
    4. Put the second pastry round on top, sealing the edges with your fingertips. Brush with egg yolk and prick several times with a fork.
    5. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 30 minutes.
