Creamy cheese and potato bake

    The potatoes do not need to be pre boiled for this dish but it's important to slice them as thinly as possible.

    Serves: 4 

    • 1kg potatoes
    • salt and pepper
    • ground nutmeg
    • 250g grated Emmental cheese
    • 200ml double cream
    • 50g butter, diced

    1. Preheat oven to 240 C / Gas 9. Grease a large baking dish.
    2. Peel potatoes and slice very thinly. Layer in the baking dish and add little salt and pepper after each layer. In a bowl whisk cheese and cream and pour over potatoes. Scatter butter on top.
    3. Bake in the preheated oven till bubbly and browned, about 1 hour. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
