About this recipe: Ground black pepper adds a unique spiciness to ordinary strawberries and blueberries. Try this simple fruit salad in the summer when berries are plentiful.

  • 400g strawberries
  • 225g blueberries
  • black pepper
  • lemon wedges

  1. Hull 400g strawberries, halving any large ones, and arrange them on four plates. Divide 225g blueberries among the plates. Grind some black pepper over the fruit and add lemon wedges to the plates for their juice. Serve with extra pepper and caster sugar.
