Garlic Prawn Flambé

    An elegant and delicious starter, which can also be served as a main course. Prawns are cooked in a garlic butter and then flambéed with whisky. Enjoy with fresh bread or salad.

    Serves: 4 

    • 8-12 raw shell-on prawns
    • 4 large cloves garlic, peeled and finely chopped
    • 115g butter
    • 2-4 tablespoons whisky
    • salt and pepper to taste
    • finely chopped parsley for garnish
    • lemon wedges for garnish

    1. Melt butter in a large frying pan over low heat. Add garlic and saute for 1 minute.
    2. Add prawns, turn up the heat and saute for 3-5 minutes or until they are pink.
    3. Stir in whisky and heat for 15 seconds. Carefully set the whisky alight and shake the pan around.
    4. When the flames die down, serve prawns with garlic and whisky butter. Scatter with parsley and serve with lemon wedges.
