    Sugar syrup is used in many cocktail and cake recipes, and is also used for making glacé fruit.

    • 240ml water
    • 200g caster sugar

    1. In a medium saucepan combine sugar and water. Bring to the boil, stirring, until sugar has dissolved. Allow to cool. Store in the fridge for up to 1 month.

    Ive just tried this with 800ml of water to 600gms of sugar Ive juiced and strained 4 apples and added a dash of lemon juice to make apple juice!chilling in the fridge right now,hope this works!!!!  -  10 Apr 2013


    I use the sugar syrup to store apples for the winter. If using large jars you can leave the apples whole, but usually cut them into quarters to put in smaller jars. fill the jar with the apples, pour on the sugar syrup to the brim, put on an airtight lid. Put the jar in boiling water and turn down to simmer for 10 minutes. Had to look in here though as wasn't sure if I was making the sugar syrup right. I was.  -  24 Aug 2013
