About this recipe: These tasty baked meatballs will disappear quickly from anyone's Christmas party. My mum makes them every year for New Year's Eve, and now so do I.

Serves: 10

  • 450g lean minced beef
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 60g dried breadcrumbs
  • 3 tablespoons minced onion
  • Sauce
  • 250g cranberry sauce
  • 100g hot chilli sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dark brown soft sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice

Prep:20min  ›  Cook:1hr25min  ›  Ready in:1hr45min

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas mark 4.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the mince, egg, water, breadcrumbs and minced onion. Roll mixture into small meatballs.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, turning once.
  4. In a slow cooker or large saucepan over low heat, stir together the cranberry sauce, chilli sauce, brown sugar and lemon juice. Add meatballs, and simmer for 1 hour before serving.

Feel free to use minced pork or turkey instead of beef in this recipe.

yummy made them for a party and they disappeared very quickly . Added a bit more chilli to the sauce as well. So easy to prepare before hand and loved the fact that you can bake the meatballs, much easier than frying. Thanks - 05 May 2012
