    About this recipe: These delicious cakes are easy to make and are perfect for birthday parties. Chocolate fairy cakes are coated in melted milk chocolate. Yummy!

    Makes: 12 fairy cakes

    • 200g self-raising flour
    • 200g caster sugar
    • 200g margarine, melted
    • 3 eggs, beaten
    • 100g unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 200g milk chocolate
    • milk as needed

    Prep:15min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Extra time:1hr setting  ›  Ready in:1hr35min 

    1. Preheat oven to 150 C / Gas 2. Line fairy cake (bun) tin with paper cases.
    2. Mix together margarine and sugar in a large bowl. Stir in eggs. Sift in flour and cocoa and fold to combine. Stir in a few drops of milk.
    3. Pour into prepared tin and bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes. The cakes are ready when a skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean. Allow to cool on wire rack.
    4. Meanwhile, melt chocolate in a double boiler. Spoon over the cakes and let set.

    lol made a little mistake, added 200g of cocoa powder instead of 100g! (the joys of cooking with kids) BUT still yummy, moist cakes a must for any chocoholic! and the perk to the mistake?? you can only manage 1 at a time lol  -  06 Jun 2011


    Lovely! Great to make with the kids too. I cut out the tops and spoon in some black cherry jam. Pop the tops back on and cover with vanilla butter cream for a very yummy black forest cup cake.  -  22 Feb 2012


    just made these and they are yummy put butter icing on the top with sprinkles and they have gone down a treat  -  20 Feb 2012
