    About this recipe: This is a recipe that i invented when i was a student in Scotland and one in which i am asked to make every christmas for people.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 6 

    • 500g sausagemeat
    • 2 cooking apples
    • 3 cloves garlic
    • 1 teaspoon mixed herbs
    • salt and pepper
    • 1 sheet puff pastry
    • beaten egg to glaze

    Method
    Prep:15min  ›  Cook:25min  ›  Extra time:20min  ›  Ready in:1hr 

    1. Peel and chop the apples and mix in with the sausagemeat, press the garlic and along with the herbs and seasoning, mix in a mixing bowl.
    2. Roll out the pastry to about 5cm (2 in) wide and 38cm (15 in) long. Take a portion of the sausage mix and with floured hands begin to roll, then place onto pastry. Brush the edge of the pastry with beaten egg, then roll over the pastry over the meat and secure the edges. Cut the roll into 5cm (2 in) lengths, scoring on the top, then brush with the beaten egg.
    3. Bake for about 25 minutes in a preheated 180 C / Gas 4 oven.

    this recipe is lovely even tho i grated the apple and halfed the amount of garlic it was a pleasure to cook and an even bigger pleasure to eat i also used shortcrust pastry - 26 Feb 2010

    YUM YUM I used an eating apple instead of a cooking apple, and this was lovely. Will definitely make again. Brilliant for our picnic - 15 Aug 2013
