Cumin Turkey Burgers

    30 min

These spicy burgers are full of flavour and smell amazing. They stand on their own, but onions or roasted peppers give them even more of a kick! Minced chicken also works great if you want to substitute the turkey.

    Serves: 6

    • 1 egg
    • 2 jalapeno or green chillies, seeded and minced
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 4 tablespoons light soy sauce
    • 4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
    • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
    • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
    • 1 teaspoon paprika
    • 1/2 teaspoon chilli powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
    • 4 tablespoons dried breadcrumbs
    • 750g minced turkey
    • 6 hamburger buns or baps, split and toasted

    Prep:20min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:30min

    1. Mix the egg, chillies and garlic in a large mixing bowl until the egg is well blended. Add the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, cumin, mustard, paprika, chilli powder, salt, breadcrumbs and turkey; mix well and form into 6 patties.
    2. Preheat an outdoor barbecue for medium-high heat, and lightly oil the cooking grate.
    3. Cook the turkey burgers on the preheated barbecue until no longer pink in the centre and the juices run clear, about 4 minutes per side. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the centre should read at least 75 degrees C. Serve on the toasted baps or hamburger buns.

    Cook's note

Cook the turkey burgers in a frying pan or under the grill if it isn't barbecue season!

delicious. The family loved it, better than our normal burgers. Love that you can make then as spicy as you like. Will definitely make again  -  09 Apr 2012

I've just made this, minus the chillies because I didn't have any. I also added extra chilli powder and spicy tomato ketchup. The result was fantastic!  -  28 Jun 2011

I have just finished making/eating these with my 2 year old toddler (minus the chillies) And they tasted sooo nice, my daughter loved them too. So quick and easy to make and will be making them regularly for now on.. 10/10 Thanks!  -  16 Oct 2010
