Find Polish sausages, like Kabanos, at the supermarket or a Polish deli. If you can't find any Polish sausage, use a good pork sausage or fresh Spanish chorizo.
Altered ingredient amounts. we used normal pork sauages, but would next time brown them first for some colour. we missed out the celery as i dont like it. we also used red lentils as that was all we had. turned out lovely. - 28 Feb 2011
First time I cooked this on the stove top and halved the lentils(which I think would have been too much) increased the stock and threw in a few diced potatoes .Was amazing ,the best thing i've cooked so far.Must add though that it did four of us as a main meal and that was not a huge bowl so where the 12 !! comes from I dont know ...children? Added chipolatas this time and done in the slow cooker ...amazingly....even better - 19 Jan 2012
Delicious! I won't be adding chorizo next time though because it was a bit spicey for the kids - 23 Dec 2011
