Banana sorbet

    This banana sorbet is great for hot summer afternoons, or when you're just craving a cold dessert treat. Easy to make and uses only 3 simple ingredients.

    Serves: 5 

    • 200g caster sugar
    • 250ml water
    • 3 bananas, mashed

    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Extra time:5hr freezing  ›  Ready in:5hr20min 

    1. In a small saucepan, stir together sugar and water. Bring to the boil, then remove from heat and allow to cool.
    2. When the sugar syrup is cool, stir in the bananas. Pour into a freezer suitable container. Freeze for 3 to 4 hours, until set at the edges.
    3. Remove from the freezer and transfer to a mixing bowl. Use an electric mixer to beat until smooth. Return to the freezer until gently set, at least 2 hours.


    Alternatively, make in your ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions for sorbet.

    I liked this recipe. It was easy to make but tasted very sweet. That could have been because I added rasberries instead of bananas. But that's the beauty of it, you can add any fruit and it will still taste just as good. A very good recipe, I just hope the swetetness was the fault of the raspberries and not the recipe.  -  27 Jul 2012
