    About this recipe: This pasta bake makes the most of everyone's favourite, spaghetti bolognese.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 8 

    • 1 (500g) packet spaghetti
    • 450g minced beef
    • 1 medium onion, chopped
    • 1 (700g) jar pasta sauce
    • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
    • 2 eggs
    • 5 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
    • 5 tablespoons butter, melted
    • 450g cottage cheese
    • 450g grated mozzarella cheese

    Method

    1. Cook spaghetti according to packet directions. Meanwhile, in a large frying pan, cook mince and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the pasta sauce and salt; set aside.
    2. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, Parmesan cheese and butter. Drain spaghetti; add to egg mixture and toss to coat.
    3. Place half of the spaghetti mixture in a greased 22x33cm baking dish. Top with half of the cottage cheese, bolognese sauce and mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers. Cover and bake at 180 C / Gas 4 for 40 minutes. Uncover; bake 20-25 minutes longer or until cheese is melted.

    Had this recipe a few weeks before I tried it. I thought the spaghetti itself would go a bit funny and as I work nights, I thought it was one of those meals that had to be eating when cooked. So tried it on my day off, really enjoyed it and my son took the leftovers to work the next day,so will be making this again - 18 Nov 2009

    Wasn't sure about the cottage cheese, and didn't tell the family that it was in there otherwise they wouldn't have eaten it! However, they all wanted second helpings! I added some mushrooms (it's the law that we have mushrooms in our spag bol!). A really tasty dish which I will definitely make again! - 10 Jul 2010

    I'm not a very experienced cook but want to learn. I picked up this recipe off my iPhone app. All I can say is wow! My wife and 3 year old daughter who can be a little critical of my cooking loved it! They both cleared their plates and wanted more! Thanks! - 30 Nov 2011
