About this recipe: This simple white sauce can easily be doubled or tripled.

Serves: 8 

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 dash white pepper
  • 250ml milk

  1. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour, salt and pepper until smooth. Gradually whisk in the milk. Bring to the boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Use immediately or refrigerate.
