Bacon and Cream Cheese Rolls

About this recipe: Pitta is spread with cream cheese, and rolled with a slice of bacon. They come out of the oven warm and crispy. Make sure you get the first one because they don't last long!


Serves: 32 

  • 16 slices streaky bacon, cut in half
  • 2 (200g) packets cream cheese
  • 1 packet pitta bread

Prep:30min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:40min 

  1. Preheat your oven's grill.
  2. Open pittas, and spread generously with cream cheese on the inside.
  3. Replace tops, and use a pizza cutter to slice into 2.5cm (1 in) wide strips. Cut the long strips in half. Roll up each piece, and wrap with half of a strip of bacon. Secure with cocktail sticks.
  4. Grill for 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the bacon is cooked through. Remove them to a bowl or platter lined with a napkin or kitchen roll. Remove toothpicks before serving.

Simple, delicious, and yes, a husband's favourite. I decided to add a little variety by adding chives to some of the cream cheese in the pittas and some basil in another. It's wonderful no matter what! - 17 Feb 2012
