Naughty Chocy Sponge Trifle

    Not just another trifle, this one is very yummy indeed! Someone gave me the recipe and they got it from somewhere else, so I have no idea where it originated. Everyone who tries it wants to know the secret, but it's no secret so feel free to share. You can make your own custard or save time and just use shop-bought, why not!

    Serves: 8 

    • chocolate swiss roll
    • blackcurrent jelly
    • custard (tin, packet or homemade)
    • tub of whipping cream
    • tin of blackberries (or fresh), or whatever fruit you prefer
    • chocolate flake
    • sherry (use your own judgement about how much)

    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Extra time:3hr20min  ›  Ready in:4hr 

    1. Put sliced swiss roll in bottom of trifle dish. Add the fruit of your choice to cover well. Pour a little sherry over cake and fruit (don't make it soggy).
    2. Make up jelly using some of the sherry instead of water in the final stage. Leave in fridge until jelly is set firm.
    3. Make custard and allow to cool before pouring on top. Return this to fridge to set.
    4. Whip up cream (not too thick). Spread cream on top and crumble choc flake on top.
