About this recipe:
This is a recipe that my mum and granny have made for years. There are lots of variations that I have tried including chocolate chips, cinnamon and more.
175g (6 oz) butter
175g (6 oz) caster sugar
175g (6 oz) self raising flour
3 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Line a bun tin with paper cases.
- Put the butter and sugar in a bowl and mix until creamy. Sift the flour and add a bit at a time, alternating with the beaten eggs. Add the vanilla.
- At this point, add any additions you might desire, such as chocolate chips, ground cinnamon, orange or lemon zest, chopped nuts, currants, etc. Spoon mixture into tin.
- Bake in oven for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.

Made it with 8's rather than 6's but otherwise followed recipe. Made beautiful, light buns.
