    About this recipe: This is a recipe that my mum and granny have made for years. There are lots of variations that I have tried including chocolate chips, cinnamon and more.

    Serves: 12 

    • 175g (6 oz) butter
    • 175g (6 oz) caster sugar
    • 175g (6 oz) self raising flour
    • 3 eggs, beaten
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    1. Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Line a bun tin with paper cases.
    2. Put the butter and sugar in a bowl and mix until creamy. Sift the flour and add a bit at a time, alternating with the beaten eggs. Add the vanilla.
    3. At this point, add any additions you might desire, such as chocolate chips, ground cinnamon, orange or lemon zest, chopped nuts, currants, etc. Spoon mixture into tin.
    4. Bake in oven for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.

    Made it with 8's rather than 6's but otherwise followed recipe. Made beautiful, light buns.  -  08 Jul 2016
