    About this recipe: Here is an easy chilli recipe for the slow cooker, with only a few ingredients and simple spices.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 4 

    • 1 (400g) tin black beans
    • 1 (400g) tin pinto beans
    • 1 (400g) tin cannellini beans
    • 2 (400g) tins chopped tomatoes
    • 1 medium red onion
    • 3-4 medium garlic cloves
    • 3 teaspoons chilli powder
    • 2 teaspoons salt (or measure to taste)
    • 1 teaspoon black pepper (or measure to taste)

    Method
    Prep:15min  ›  Cook:3hr  ›  Ready in:3hr15min 

    1. Open all the tins of beans into a colander to rinse and drain. Then put them in the slow cooker.
    2. Empty the tins of tomatoes into the slow cooker.
    3. Mince the garlic and chop the onions. Add to the slow cooker.
    4. Add the chilli powder, salt and black pepper. Taste along the way.
    5. Cook for at least 1 hour, longer if desired. Recommend 3 hours.

    Serving suggestion

    Serve with grated cheese, medium and/or sharp cheddar.

    Other ideas

    Spice it up with fresh chillies or chilli sauce.

    Hubby absolutely loves this, we have it in tortilla wraps with salad, salsa, grated cheese and/or a splash of sour cream. Any leftovers are eaten cold for lunch the next day using the left over wraps - 02 Apr 2014

    Flavourless. I tried this recipe ten different ways, with raw onions, with fried. The most I could get from it was a dull lack of flavour. Don't let this be your first slow cooker recipe. This was so bad it has nearly put me off using a slow cooker and I registered just to review it. It makes chilli out of a jar seem exotic and genius. It's that bland in comparison.
