About this recipe: This is a creamy breakfast cereal made up the night before. Leaving it overnight softens and swells the oats. No cooking required. You only need to add some extra yoghurt on top if desired.


Serves: 6 

  • 500g (1 1/4 lb) porridge oats
  • 250ml (8 fl oz) drinking yoghurt (any flavour)
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 250g (9 oz) plain or fruit yoghurt
  • 150ml (1/4 pint) orange or apple juice
  • 250g (9 oz) sultanas
  • Mixed fresh fruit such as bananas, finely diced apple (leave skin on), chopped strawberries or other fruit in season
  • 2 tablespoons slivered almonds

Prep:8hr  ›  Ready in:8hr 

  1. Combine all ingredients EXCEPT the sultanas, fresh fruit and almonds. Refrigerate overnight.
  2. The next morning, stir in fruit and almonds and mix well before serving.

I want to start eating better and was looking for something that doesn't take long to make in the mornings before work. This is very easy to make and actually quite tasty! you can vary the flavours of youghurt too - 31 Aug 2008
