Death in the Afternoon, the Cocktail

    Apparently, Ernest Hemingway invented this one. It is named after his book about bullfighting, but it also stands as fair warning against actually drinking this cocktail in the afternoon, or indeed any time of day.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 1 

    • 1 1/2 measures absinthe (or absinthe substitute, such as Pernod)
    • about 150ml sparkling wine

    Method

    1. Pour absinthe into a champagne glass. Gradually add sparkling wine.
