About this recipe: This one’s been around since at least the 1880s. Try it with a dash of orange bitters along with a dash of Peychaud.


Serves: 1 

  • ice
  • 1 1/2 measures Cognac
  • 1 1/2 measures dry vermouth
  • 2 dashes Peychaud bitters
  • cocktail cherry for garnish

  1. Chill a martini glass in the freezer. Add ice to a cocktail pitcher. Pour in Cognac and vermouth, then shake in Peychaud bitters. Stir well, strain into chilled glass, and garnish with a cherry.
