Try adding some finely chopped jalapeno peppers for an extra kick.
Really great recipe, I doubled the recipe to serve 4 and I added a couple of Tablespoons of Tomato purée . I found it 5 hours on low was adequate cooking time in my crock pot - 05 Feb 2015

Fabulously easy to make, I use dried chickpeas and soak over night so it's even cheaper, also sometimes add a red pepper and about 4 servings of frozen spinach. it can need a bit of tweaking depending on how slapdash I've been with spices! I probably double the quantities of spices during the cooking process and add a veg stock cube. It rarely takes 6 hours, usually about half that time, just keep checking the chickpeas. It's a winner with veggie and none veggie alike :-) - 23 Jun 2013
