About this recipe: Choose large oranges that are heavy for their size; they are the juiciest.

Serves: 4

  • 1kg (2 lb) sirloin steak, thick cut
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger root
  • 2 oranges, juiced

Prep:6hr  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Ready in:6hr20min

  1. Make crisscross cuts on surface of meat on both sides, and place in a shallow dish. Reserve half of the orange juice. Mix remaining juice with garlic and ginger. Pour over meat, and marinate in refrigerator for at least 6 hours.
  2. Preheat barbecue for medium heat.
  3. Brush cooking grate with oil, and place steak on barbecue. Cook for 6 to 10 minutes per side, or until at desired temperature. Remove from barbecue, and rest for several minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, heat reserved orange juice. Slice meat, and transfer to a serving platter. Pour heated orange juice over the meat.
