About this recipe:These scones are extra special. The combination of dark chocolate chips and orange juice is delectable. To make the flakiest scone possible, make sure you use very cold butter. Eat them on their own or serve with lemon curd and/or clotted cream.

Preheat oven to 200 C / Gas 6. Lightly grease a baking tray or line with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, beat together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. With a large fork, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the chocolate chips. Mix in the orange juice to form a dough.
Turn out the dough on a floured surface. Pat or roll into a 23cm circle about 1.25cm thick. With a 6.25cm fluted pastry cutter, cut out 12 scones, pushing the dough scraps together for the last few, if necessary. Transfer the scones to the baking tray.
Bake in preheated oven until golden brown, about 12 minutes. Move to wire racks to cool.
For an additional orange zing, add some fresh orange zest.
