Slow cooker beef mince stew

    This stew takes very little preparation time. The recipe calls for minced beef, onion, tomatoes and mixed vegetables to be slow cooked. Serve with a crusty bread roll.

    Serves: 12 

    • 450g minced beef
    • 1 medium onion, chopped
    • 850ml pasta sauce
    • 850ml water
    • 450g frozen mixed vegetables
    • 285g chopped tomatoes with chillies (from a tin)
    • 125g celery, sliced
    • 1 beef stock cube
    • 1 teaspoon pepper

    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:8hr  ›  Ready in:8hr10min 

    1. In a frying pan over medium heat, cook beef and onion until meat is no longer pink; drain. Transfer to a slow cooker. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the vegetables are tender.

    I did not have tomatoes and chilli but I did have Loyd Grossman Pasta Sauce with chilli so used that. I added some cubed potatoes with a dollop of caramelised onions and finished off with dumplings!!! The whole dish was gorgeous and we both loved it.  -  11 Nov 2010


    Pretty much how i made it although i had to thicken it a little bit at the end.....great with bread! (And it made enough to give a couple of portions to a friend to try and a few portions to freeze)  -  24 Jan 2016
