Preheat oven to 240 C / Gas 9.
Sieve all dry ingredients into a bowl. Rub in margarine and syrup, add egg mix well. Add water to make a dough. The dough should not be wet and sticky, but should form a ball. Roll out onto a dusted floured surface to 1cm (1/2 in) thick and cut into pieces.
