About this recipe: Very easy garlic bread, and a lot better than shop bought.

Serves: 4 

  • 1 French stick or baguette
  • 4 to 5 cloves of garlic
  • 75g butter

Prep:5min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:20min 

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Cut the baguette into around 10-12 pieces but be careful not to cut right through the bread. Leave about a centimetre at the bottom of each slit.
  2. Finely chop the garlic and mix up with the butter.
  3. Add the mixture to the slots in the bread.
  4. Wrap the baguette in tin foil and place on middle shelf in oven for around 12-15 minutes or until the butter has melted.
  5. Serve straight away.

Altered ingredient amounts. A slice of Gruyère cheese in each slit with the garlic butter before wrapping in foil and popping in the oven is also yummy! - 03 Mar 2010
