Line and grease a 20cm square baking tin (set aside). Preheat the oven to 170 C / Gas 3.
Melt the butter and syrups in a saucepan over a low heat.
Put all the dry ingredients into a bowl and mix in the mashed bananas. Add the melted mixture and turn out into prepared tray. Flatten to roughly 1.75cm (2/3 in) in depth. Do not worry if it does not spread across the tray. The mixture will bake in whatever shape you create!
Bake for 20 to 30 minutes. Allow to cool in the tray - but it is easier to divide the mixture after 10 minutes of cooling or so. Turn out onto wire rack to cool completely.
Use any seeds or nuts that you have. I use 3:2 porridge to rye oats. Proportions and ingredients are only general guidelines.
