Invented by a friend and I while very drunk after a midweek afternoon pool tournament. I somehow had the where-with-all to write it down. I reckon it'd work well with swordfish but I've never tried it.

Gorgeous colour and absolutely refreshing. Use your favourite tinned fruit - I prefer peaches or pears.

This is a simple and easy recipe using potatoes and cauliflower. Serve this dish with Indian breads such as thin rotis or naan - even pitta bread will do! Garnish with coriander if you'd like.

This light, sweet omelette should be cooked just before serving, but can be prepared up to the end of step 2 an hour ahead. It's a simple yet delectable pudding to make in late summer/early autumn.

Steak and Chips is a great British favourite. Here's a recipe that will ensure you get a really good, flavourful meal perfected through university. It's cheap to make, and you can get everything at Tesco's so it's not hard to get the ingredients either. You can either serve with gravy or peppercorn sauce, but I find gravy works a lot better. Serves two people.

This is a West Indian marinade that's been used for generations. It's best suited for fish and game, but I also like it on chicken and pork. Make sure you adjust the amount of chillies to your taste. Also, I sometimes replace the orange juice with marmalade for a sweeter marinade.

A gorgeously rich and creamy dish with chicken breast fillets, fresh mushrooms and bacon. Though the chicken cooks in the oven for up to an hour, the dish requires little preparation and the pan sauce is quick to make. This is especially lovely when balance out with green veg and served with a wild rice blend.

King prawns can get rubbery when cooked. Grilling them on the barbecue is an excellent alternative. The bacon keeps them from drying out.
