A filling and tasty lamb curry that features the addition of channa dal. Find chana dal in Indian shops or larger supermarkets. Chickpeas or yellow split peas make a good substitute.

The oriental spices that flavour curry – popular since colonial days – may have medicinal properties too. Turmeric, for instance, is said to improve circulation and relieve digestive problems.

Jamaican goat curry is a national dish. Shows the Indian influence in Jamaica. Tasty served with rice and peas and fried plantain.

This curry is a fruit and nut curry which on cooking turns a wonderful dark colour. If you can resist it for a day it improves with sitting. Very rounded flavour and as spicy as you wish. You can use left over roast beef Joint instead of raw beef if you want.

This lamb shank recipe was initially given to me as a family favourite from a mate at work. I've prepared it in a slow cooker and made it as easy as possible to prepare. It has a fantastic flavour and the meat just falls off the bone. I have made this in the oven as well and doubled the quantities for four people and it tasted just as good, only everybody went in for seconds and there were no leftovers.

This fragrant, spicy Indian butter chicken recipe is from the owner of my favourite Indian restaurant, India Cuisine. Serve with hot Indian bread.

Paneer is an Indian cheese, similar to ricotta but drier. It's often combined with peas in a curry. This delicious version uses home-made paneer, which is simple to make. Serve with basmati rice for a well-balanced meal.

This hearty, spicy beef curry is only for those that can handle the heat. I prefer to make it in the slow cooker, but it can be made hob also. Great served over mashed potatoes or rice.

Smooth and delicious beef and potato curry with peanuts. I created a slow-cooker version of this famous Thai dish. This is easy to cook and does not take much time to prepare. It goes well with a jasmine rice and steamed veggies as a side.

This curry is so simple to prepare! I had quite a few veggies and spices filling up my cupboards so I just decided to wing it! Any veggies would work and you could use beef or even chickpeas rather than chicken. For a quicker option, you can cook this in a frying pan, but I like the idea of dinner cooking while I get on with my day.
