A simple, easy dessert recipe. Great for families and when rhubarb is in season.

Now my granny taught me this. She cooks by her nose as do I... so I don't always pay attention to times.

Make the most of aromatic, golden apricots when they're in season by using them in this attractive tart. It has a sweet orange shortcrust base and is topped with a crumbled flapjack-style mixture of oats, sultanas, hazelnuts and seeds. Serve slightly warm for dessert or with morning coffee or afternoon tea. The recipe for sweet shortcrust pastry is separate. Look in the notes section for how to make orange sweetcrust pastry.

This is a very old baked apple dumpling recipe but it is so easy. Serve hot or cold with custard or ice cream.

Just like the title says - a delicious pavlova topped with banana slices, caramel sauce and whipped cream. The perfect combination of two very yummy desserts making one that will have you making it over and over again.

A traditional Christmas treat, this mince pie recipe is made easy with the use of best-quality shop-bought filling.

I adored black forest gateaux in the 70s and loved trifle so decided I would fuse the two. You can make it all from scratch but also easy to substitute ready made goods if you don't have the inclination. The ingredients are split to enable you to decide at each 'layer'.

I strongly recommend using fresh brambles in this recipe for best flavour. Raspberries, strawberries or a combination of all three may be used, but they should all be fresh.

Blondies are brownies with a twist !! Using white chocolate and peanut butter creates a really different taste contrast to conventional brownies.... Anyway, enjoy !!!

Here are some luxurious little ‘moneybag’ pastries filled with a ginger-spiced mixture of dried fruit, apple and walnuts. The dried fruits are first soaked in brandy, although you can replace the alcohol with fresh orange juice if you prefer. Try these at Christmas-time as a lower-fat alternative to mince pies.

Easy, good way to use up those bits and pieces that seem to lie around the larder and end up in the bin. Save a fortune and make this tasty filling pudding. Use whatever you like - dried apricots, dates, prunes, sultanas, raisins, currants - the list is endless...

This is the best bread pudding I've ever eaten! My husband wants me to make it every weekend!

A Scottish twist on a traditional bread pudding recipe. Make in individual ramekins for an impressive dinner party presentation, and try using brioche or pannetone instead of plain bread to make it extra special.

Cape gooseberries, also known as physalis or Chinese lanterns, add a pleasing sharpness to apple crumble, while the fruit juice and dried blueberries bring natural sweetness. Rolled oats and chopped nuts give an appealing crunch to the crumble topping, which is made with less sugar than most recipes suggest.
