This recipe is the next best thing to a bakery babka! Although babkas are traditionally yeast-risen breads, this one is more similar to a sweet quick bread or cake.

This heavily fruited German-style loaf is good at tea-time, served thickly sliced, or lightly toasted and buttered for breakfast. It contains no added fat (the fat present comes from the nuts), but the dried fruits – a mixture of apricots, pears, prunes and figs – give it a rich, moist texture and good keeping qualities.

This traditional Italian Christmas bread is also suitable for elevenses, afternoon tea or breakfast. Enjoy!

Freshly grated Parmesan, a bite of black pepper and just a hint of fresh rosemary, baked into crispy golden twists. Great to eat now or to serve to guests, and perfect to give as a gift.

Really easy and really tasty. These go down a treat on their own or with soup.

They're soft, sticky and full of flavour. I adapted them from Todd Wilburs Recipe for cinnabon cinnamon rolls. I make mine in muffin cases in muffin tins as there is less washing up, they are less messy to eat and easier to take with you.

This is a moist banana loaf cake perfect for using up ripe bananas. I usually freeze my old bananas until I have enough for a recipe or two. Just freeze them as they are - peel and all - and thaw for an hour or so at room temperature. I have also used apple sauce in place of the oil to make this low fat. It is not quite as moist, but the flavour is still just as good.
