Middle Eastern flavours infuse these aubergines filled with a mixture of lamb and rice. Try serving with Moroccan Carrot Dip and Marinated Leeks (on this website).

An updated version of an old favourite. This pretty pie combines lean meat with lots of fresh vegetables, all topped with crisp and light filo pastry.

In this version of a long-time family favourite, the minced lamb filling contains lots of vegetables and red lentils, giving a rich flavour and texture. A generous serving of peas will make the meal even more nutritious.

This is simply gorgeous because it's so comforting! Preparation is easy, too! The lamb shanks are slow-cooked in a generous amount of red wine. This is best served with the sauce juices poured over mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, risotto or even soft polenta.

A hearty hotpot of lean lamb chunks, leeks, carrots, tomatoes and broccoli with a herbed scone topping is sure to satisfy a hungry family. To complete the meal, serve with lightly steamed green beans or another seasonal green vegetable, to boost the vitamin content of the meal.

These savoury pizzas are bathed in a tomato and lamb topping, then cut into wedges to serve. Served hot or cold, these may be a starter, or put a little salad in the middle, and fold up like a wrap for a quick meal.

This Greek-inspired dish stays true to a hallmark of Greece's cuisine – it's simple but wonderfully flavoured. The ingredients are similar to moussaka but with some pasta included.

This is a very rich dish. Often, I find it's best served as a first course rather than a main because of the meat and cheese filling.

In Lancashire, when I was a lad, we had this at school. English cookery may be laughed at throughout the world, but this ranks alongside egg and bacon buttys on fried bread as one of the world's culinary masterpieces. Pupils would queue all lunchtime to have this, even though we knew that Nora, the chief 'cook' used to put her false teeth into anything she cooked for good luck.

A lamb lovers dream! This is one of my favourite lamb shank recipes. I've had so many requests after serving this at dinner parties that I decided to add it here. Get the lamb shanks in the oven. Make the glaze and topping, then take an hour-long nap, have a bath and voila! Dinner's ready!
