This dish melts in your mouth. The credit goes to my future mother-in-law. Not only does it taste gorgeous, but halibut is a sustainably sourced fish. Each halibut fillet should be approximately an inch thick. Substitute crème fraîche for the double cream for a lighter dish.

I love eating this so much, I submitted my own recipe. It makes a lovely gift, too.

Creamy homemade ice cream! Excellent summertime treat! The brown sugar gives this a lovely caramel flavour.

This is a luscious copy of a very famous brand name ice cream! All my little monkeys love this one (wink)! For best results, transfer frozen mixture to a plastic freezer container and freeze for at least one hour before serving (if you can keep your kids out of it for that long!).

Plain yoghurt makes the perfect instant dessert – it just needs a little imagination. Add some fruit and a crunchy nut topping and it will round off a meal perfectly. Delicious!

Simple to prepare at home and easily modified to your taste. Have this ready in the freezer for unexpected guests! Try substituting condensed milk for the honey for a less sweet version.

For a speedy, sweet treat to end a meal, serve bananas in a sticky and nutty sauce, with ice cream. It's a fun, retro dessert given a modern zesty twist with orange, which balances the richness perfectly. Delicious!

This is a popular Pakistani rice pudding, flavoured with cardamon and rose water. Serve warm or cold.

I found this recipe in magazine ages ago and have been using it fairly frequently since. You can shape the pasties into a man in the moon shape or alternatively cut a circle to make a pasty shape. Absolutely delicious and very moreish especially eaten outside with a glass of mulled wine.

These are beautiful little desserts perfect to serve for company. A ready-made Madeira cake makes it simple and the cream/nut mixture in the middle is absolutely delicious.

This healthy and versatile dressing is superb when drizzled over a salad or barbecued meats, and also acts as an excellent dip for toasted pitta. Tofu can be soft or firm, but do not use extra firm tofu. For a little heat, try adding a small amount of wasabi before blending.

This hearty bread has pumpkin, sunflower and sesame seeds. You can substitute other seeds for those listed if you wish.
